Plaintiffs v. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Circuit Court of Cook County
Medical Malpractice
January 22, 2013
None
The plaintiff VOLUNTARILY DISMISSED his case after 29 out of 30 motions in limine were granted.
The plaintiffs, a mother and the minor patient, alleged, among other things, that the licensed clinical professional counselor failed to properly diagnose the minor’s bipolar disorder, Asperger’s disorder, social anxiety disorder, ADHD, and major depressive disorder, and failed to timely refer the minor to a psychologist for testing and a psychiatrist for medication evaluation. The plaintiffs alleged that the LCPC’s negligence caused the minor’s condition to deteriorate to the point where the minor threatened to shoot his classmates and required inpatient treatment at a psychiatric hospital for more than one month. The plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their case after the court granted 29 out of 30 motions in limine eliminating plaintiffs’ past and future medical expenses and seven out of eight of the plaintiff’s allegations of negligence.
